Next Tuesday (April 5) is a trig quiz.
The topics for it include:
-identifying the quadrant/axis where the terminal side of an angle is
-finding coterminal angles
-converting decimal degrees into degrees, minutes, seconds
-converting from degrees, min, seconds into decimal degrees
- converting degree measures into radians
-converting radians into degrees
- finding exact values
-finding approximates values of trig functions
-finding angles when the trig ratio is given
On the Friday(April 8) will be trig test #2:
The topics for this one are:
graphing trig functions and solving right triangles. Identifying period and amplitude.
This blog acknowledges the contributions of many world class institutions. They include the mathematical endeavors of mathematicians, the National Science Foundation (NSF),the National Science Digital Library (NSDL), the BBC, NOVA, Discovery Channel, NASA, Khan Academy and notable universities such as Brigham Young (US), St. Andrews and Cambridge Universities(Scotland & England).

Tuesday's Nutshell
Today we learned how to graph the parent functions of sine and cosine. We defined period and amplitude. The link here addresses this set of notes: Graphing Sine/Cosine and Amplitudes
The homework is more on yesterday's notes. Finding the exact values of the six trig functions using the unit circle.
Reminders: Thursday is the first trig test of this unit. You are responsible for recreating the unit circle. You will have to label the axes, positive & negative degrees measures, positive & negative radian measures. On a third empty circle you will have to mark the coordinates of the points where the terminal side of the angle intercepts the circle. On your index card you can have the special right triangles and the signs of points assocoiated with each quadrant.
On Friday you have a log & exponential functions requiz. If you are not present that day, there will not be a makeup. Be there or accept the quiz grade you already have. There will be no exceptions to this.

Monday's Nutshell
The first two links are notes with sample problems similar to what we did in class today.
Reference Angles Trig functions & Exact Values
These two videos are about the same thing. The presenter doesn't show the pattern we talked about in class to make memorization easier but he does give agood explanation of why it works. You will need to watch both videos: Exact Trig Values 1 Trig functions & Exact Values 2
We will have our first trig test on Thursday. You will be recreating the unit circle from scratch. You will need to be able to do today's material for Thursday's test. Also the requiz on logs and exponentials will on Friday.

In a nutshell #1
I just found these two links and love them. If you were out on Tuesday check them out.
Angle measurement
Radian Measure
Practice 1 & Practice 2 If you are absent and can't get the worksheet from today. Do these and I'll count it. This is not an option to those present in class today.

Trig and Other Cool Math Stuff
ten-ways-to-survive-the-math-blues
If you're struggling with precal (and sooner or later we all struggle with math) check out this guys advice--it's good stuff.
Many of you are going on field trips over the next few weeks and it's so important that you are able to keep up with what we're doing in class. I'm posting on the right side of the blog "Nifty Trig Stuff". Most of them are interactive tutorials.
If you prefer videos to reading, check out the "Precal tutorials" under math videos--scroll and select trig.
Enjoy :)
